America ... an ignorant and stupid country led by a paedophile grifter with the intellectual and strategic depth of a puddle after a light summer rain.

Barry Gander's avatar

Nice phrase! You wonder ho0w that same country can send four astronauts around the moon?

Alastair Kendall's avatar

I have no answer ... maybe America has evolved into the Eloi and the Morlocks described in H G Wells novel, The Time Machine? It certainly feels like this.

Barry Gander's avatar

Nice analogy.

The Bilingual Garden's avatar

They had help. And they provided the astronauts.

Regretting Florida's avatar

It's Biden's fault we were able to send people around the moon. trump was too bust elsewhere to muck it up yet.

Barry Gander's avatar

Love that phrase.

Excellent review of the current state of affairs Barry. Keep digging that grave. 😉🪦

LOL! On it.

IMO…It was always going to end here.

He was never presidential material. Never had the skill set. Background. Experience. Temperament. Emotional intelligence. Empathy. Humility. Moral integrity. Rectitude.

He ran in 2016 on a lark. Never expected to win. Over his head in his 1st term, but surrounded with capable advisors able to guide/redirect his worst impulses.

Until…his 2020 election loss…

January 6th…

3 criminal indictments…

That SHOULD have ended his political career. WOULD have ended his political career if Senate Reps had done their job. Upheld their OATH to the Constitution. Supreme Court had NOT intervened on HIS behalf.

(Make No Mistake. Presidential immunity will never be granted to a Democratic President.) It was merely a tool to seize power/rewrite the Constitution to conform with “Project 2025 • Mandate for Leadership • The Conservative Promise”

You get what you pay for" is a proverb meaning the price of a product or service directly reflects its quality.

Despite all the warnings, a “stiff-necked people” chose to “worship the golden calf” > obstinately refused to change direction despite all the warnings.

WE don’t want to hear one damn thing from congressional Republicans now expressing “concern.” They drug us #DownThisPath

It’s Beyond Time for Republicans to join Democrats to #RightThisShip

#ActionNotWords

Impeach • Convict • Remove the President/VP/His Cabinet/Every appointee/hire made in the DOJ.

Put America back on the #StraightAndNarrowPath

Best possible outcome for this once great nation as we near the 250th Anniversary of the constitutional Republic.

This should be Required Reading! Great post.

Absolutely right!

Maybe if all our boys and girls come home, they can lead us in the revolution -- but I fear too many of them may be trigger-happy MAGA.

I think that anyone who was sent to the Gulf by Trump, isn't going to be voting for him...

Gloria J. Maloney's avatar

What scares me is what Trump plans to do with the soldiers he brings home? Will our troops fire on our own people?

Rock Wilcox's avatar

An interesting observation, Gloria; some of the troops will be deciding whether they will stay in the service or turn in their uniforms and gear. If retirement or discharge is the option, some may choose to attend college. A few of them, particularly those who voted for trump, may be persuaded to join the ranks of ICE (most likely, trump knows which troops are loyal to him).

Just something to ponder.

Gloria J. Maloney's avatar

I looked into it further and found out about a strategy for moving troops for a while. This isn't just about Trump's hurt feelings.

The problem is trust and Trump's erratic behavior and choices.

Andrew Todd's avatar

A great and informative piece as always. It reminds me of a slightly crude saying l remember from my distant past, trump shits and stamps in it.

Barry Gander's avatar

Brutal! But says it all

The Bilingual Garden's avatar

"Somehow, Trump and Putin think that pulling American troops from Germany is a punishment for Germany."

trump may well believe that he could punish Germany by withdrawing troops. putin sees things differently; for him, as with the entire US foreign policy he dictates, the aim is to weaken the USA.

Meanwhile, the Germans are considering how they can renature Ramstein Air Base and restore the original moorland landscape. Perhaps as a nature reserve with hiking trails. One or two of the main buildings could be left standing, to serve as a museum, and a hotel with a restaurant, where nostalgic US veterans can indulge in Saumagen, Maultaschen, regional wine and German cakes.

Humorous and very informative article. I hope you send a copy to trump.

For trump he got his knee jerk 5 year old response as a front page headline. The troops no doubt like their lives in Europe and are probably dreading a return with families to the not-so-good life on an military base in the usa

Barry Gander's avatar

Yes, I was wondering about that...

Ya’ll voted for this… HAPPY NOW ???

Here in Canada, there are less than 200 U.S. troops, but I hope our small but mighty military is keeping a close watch on each and every one of them. It would just take one or two still enamoured with their Orange Führer to provide sufficient intel to make an invasion just a little bit easier.

Barry Gander's avatar

I bet we know their names and we're friends with their families... LOL

Trump is the gift that never stops giving away America's prestige and power.

Andrew Todd's avatar

You miss-spelled 'grift'.

Thinker's avatar

Well, his enemies think he is a gift. Really depends on which side one stands.
