Thank you Barry for getting this out so quickly, and that this so well informed. Two members of our family are Air Canada cabin crew. I always worry if they have to fly into the USA. Extending deep sympathy to the families of the pilots.

I feel for the families of those who lost love ones and I feel for the overworked and unpaid air traffic controllers who have to suffer.

The blame lies squarely with the Trump administration who have so little respect for ordinary people.

Damn felon playing with people's lives.

So sorry. Our newsfeeds here in the Midwest just started reporting this story a few minutes ago, although it happened around midnight. How horrible. Trump and his goons must go. I feel like our country is falling apart.

I know that traffic controllers' stress at trying to keep people alive in an impossible situation created by profit-seeking monsters. It happens every day in US ERs and hospitals as well as in air traffic control.

Good job getting the story out so soon and placing the blame where it belongs, on Trump and the Epstein class.

We stopped travelling to the United States in 2020 and after this accident, we will never step foot in any American state or cross the US border again, nor will any member of my family or any of my friends! We are done with the bullshit!

Sara Wiedenhoefer's avatar

We decent Americans are so sorry. I'll never understand this evil. The orange shit-stained main character in the Epstein files is covering his ass so he won't get impeached and then convicted of his crimes. And the Republicucks in Congress are allowing it. That is why our government is not running and exactly why you lost your fellow countrymen. I'm so sorry

Thank you for your concern.

It gets to be too much for the Return.

Barry thank you for your reporting. I too hope the air traffic controller is not hard on himself. Overworked and fatigued. One or more at the NTSB were let go due to political reasons. This agency will be investigated the accident. 😞 My hearts go out to all affected by this tragedy

The controller will undoubtedly feel guilty for the remainder of their days. Mistakes under pressure are the responsibility of those in charge who permitted that pressure.

Trump’s casual dismissal of Iran “excursion” casualties as something to be expected suggests he won’t feel a moment’s regret or sympathy.

Unless it affects him or his friends, close family or backers it’s just stuff that happens. No more.

A tragedy of the over worked and under paid, versus the under performing and over privileged in America. Unfortunately fellow Canadians were involved. This preventable tragedy will become another reason for people to avoid non essential travel to the USA or opt for other means of conveyance. For example, its faster to drive from Ottawa to Boston than it is to take the plane. I suspect the same is true for the trip from Montreal to NYC. Regardless, a sad tragedy.

Actually, the whole pedoligarchy, the fascist Republican regime and their supporters are responsible. I wish people would stop focusing only on the chief-pedo.

Craig Ewing's avatar

This. Trump is both cause and symptom.

Madom CA's avatar

Don’t you think the cause is more deeply embedded in American culture - the ‘hidden’ misogyny, racism and homo-etc phobia, that has always existed, but has been enabled by the pedoligarchy currently running the country?

Craig Ewing's avatar

These have always been part of America: hyper-individualism, racism, distrust of national community, love of the uber-wealthy. However, it's not the pedoligarchy that has enabled it. The American people - white males, anyway - have been in denial of these characteristics since the beginning. We have always looked toward the future, thinking that in doing so we can excise or at least ignore the past. The pedoligarchy has shown that those traits are still here. We should give credit where credit is due - they brought those traits out of the shadows and nurtured them into full flower. If there is to be a truly just and moral future in America, it will only happen if we face, wrestle down and vanquish those traits.

Absolutely agree with every word you wrote!

meant "point" - but could use a pint...

And let’s not forget that air traffic control person who now has to live with this for the rest of his life. someone who was dealing with the 2 emergencies - alone - at one time because of the shortage. My heart breaks for him and the families of the two pilots.

You can't imagine how glad I am that all my trips this year will be driving.

Yes. One of them will take us through Los Angeles. I would rather drive in LA than fly.

Sallyfemina's avatar

And all of it's in California, which is relatively safe. Much of it on jammed freeways -- but still better to be fighting traffic than dealing with airports, especially if they put ICE goons there. We'll be traveling in my friend's electric (non-Tesla) car so gas prices won't be a problem either.

Barry Gander's avatar

Nice move!

Sara Wiedenhoefer's avatar

Republicucks have created this. They have destroyed their credibility and their party. The GOP doesn't exist anymore.

Jeffrey Fosse's avatar

F Musk: his DOGE ballsacks were responsible for firing a lot of needed air traffic controllers. Just f him and the convicted felon.

This is squarely on the shoulders of the transportation sec Shame Duffy. He is too busy going on TV, in fact as this occurred, to spread war propaganda and lies clearly outside of his job description.

Barry Gander's avatar

And they can't see the shame in their actions.

Suzanne Allain's avatar

As a Canadian, I am terribly sad about the lost of two pilots and the pain on their families and friends. My heart goes out to the injured passengers as well.

The air traffic controller will live the rest of his life blaming himself because of the incompetence of the Trump regime who doesn't care about other people's lives.

Grief ~ the intense emotional suffering or deep sorrow caused by a significant loss.😢

We all grieve differently...... but the good ALL grieve💧 How can we not?

Life IS the MOST PRECIOUS gift.....we ACCEPT and GIVE❣️ and whenever such a GIFT is GONE .....it is A LOSS to ALL OF US. THOSE who caused the gift to be gone.....have also lost.

THE PRESENT shows us immediately.....a Pilot, a Neighbor, a Son or Daughter, a Brother or Sister, an Aunt or Uncle, Grandmother or Grandfather and Mom or Dad's precious gift has left us ALL.

How I look at LIFE as the most PRECIOUS GIFT?......

I look at life as giving a gift, not to a particular person, State or Country......but to OUR LIVES. To say you have lost a loved one is letting US know.....WE have ALL lost that same gift.

How do any of us know who our ancestors are or who our future ancestors will be.

There is no way I can know.....that your Great-Great-Great-Great (I could go on for another 100 or so GREAT ancestors), is not also 1 of my great (multiple times) ancestors......Or.....Your daughters' daughters' daughters' daughters' son may become my great, great, great, great grandson.

I believe with all my heart.......WE ARE ALL family.....When you are happy.....I am happy. AND when you cry.....I cry with YOU.

So, please know my heart is with YOU today & every day and I am CRYING with ALL my brothers and sisters.

I refuse to see my precious GIFT of life separate from the GOOD of ALL of you❣️❣️❣️

I do have to admit, I have met some, who were never given the HEART.....so, thus, they have no idea WHY so MANY of us have changed.
