excellent article as always Barry. The US military machine is old and antiquated. I see this in software companies too. Older companies were built on base systems developed 30 or more years ago and were probably seen back then as innovative. The problem arises when new startups without the baggage see problems and come to eat our lunch. Kudos to our Ukrainian friends for all they have done. You are right - we should be grateful they are friends.

I just wonder why Zelensky is begging for Patriot missiles in Washington when these are nothing but expensive junk. If Ukraine really needs them, it could just buy Israel's scrap. I guess it was more a case of kissing trump's ass.
Here's the problem in a nutshell: Americans, especially the military, think their feces have the aroma of the best of French perfumes. They have stubbornly held onto to the same battlefield tactics of firebases since the end of WW2, ands from time to time have sucked their Allies into the vortex. Canada in Afghanistan, for one. The world has changed a lot in 75 years and it has left America behind. For over 50 of those years, fighter pilots and tankers have known that there are literally thousands of soldiers out there, with cheap missiles, waiting to flash their sorry asses technology be damned. America has doggedly clung to outdated tactics during all these years and they have nothing but failures to show for it. America needs some laser focused disruption.
