Both New York and California alone have larger GDP’s than all of Canada combined. This would be a huge boon for Canada and a huge loss for the Confederate States of America (aka Jesusland).
There is no mention of secession in the U.S. Constitution so but the act of creating the Constitution means the States are bound to it. Sucession would likely require a dissolution of the USA and the emergence of new nations in its place. Not surprisingly, there is a lot of support for this drastic response.
"A 2021 poll found that 52% of Trump voters and 41% of Biden voters support partitioning the United States into multiple countries based on political party lines. A different poll that same year grouped the United States into five geographic regions, and found that 37% of Americans favored secession of their own region. 44% of Americans in the South favored secession, with Republican support at 66%; while Democratic support was 47% in the Pacific states."
Perhaps our 'irreconcilable differences' are grounds for divorce. After all, the U.S. was formed as an 'experiment' and it seems to have failed to adapt to the demands of modern times. The 'melting pot' has concocted a witches brew of discontent.
It surprises me that there is so much support for it. I would be sad if it came to that; I realize it is harder work to hold something together, but large dreams take work...
As a former NY & PA resident, I can totally support this. We'd get to keep Niagara Falls! Canifornia would also be trilingual- English, Spanish, and French. Might take some getting using to Celsius and the metric system, but I learned about those in school.
Thanks for the smile, Barry. I know I'm not the only one that needs it. Personally, I'm going to take some time to practice my breathing exercises. Then sit back, relax and worry about the shit-show outside our door tomorrow.
I am so moving out of God forsaken Florida and coming to Canifornia! Already looking for a place in Chicago (can't afford Boston on a corporate non-management salary). Also with the looming global warming catastrophe any cool place sounds attractive.
I don't know - I'm partial to "Freedonia" myself, just to underline the absurdist comedy of our times.

Totally agree! Let's do it!

Thank you for starting my day with a smile as well as excellent insight into our electorate.

Excellent! We have the makings of a Movement here! LOL

LOL! Love your spirit! The 'win' was not as strong as it might seem. More later...

A warm Chicago! Could be a treat! Agree with your move from Florida, anyway.
Under the Bush administration I once saw a similar map. It was simply divided into Canada and Jesusland.
I'd go with that!
